The 120 bhp 6 cylinder engine of the Type K-6 gave a top speed of over 60 mph. The radiator cap was graced by their famous silver plated Flying Stork, of the Hispano Suiza firm, and the car was fast, luxurious and expensive, costing 3125 pounds in 1938.

The Hispano Suiza is a car built by a Spanish-French company. This model is a type K6 which was a very luxurious and expensive car for that time. The car was equipped with a 6 cylinder engine that delivered 120 HP. After the Spanish Civil War and the Second World War, the French part of the company exclusively built aircraft engines and the Spanish part was absorbed into what later became SEAT.

1975 saw the (Y17-1) 1938 Hispano Suiza take its spot in the series. The range had usually ended at number Y16 and this became the first model to extend the range.

Variations/Rarities: It appeared in no less than 8 different colour schemes but fortunately there were no casting variations except for to the baseplate where the description was altered and a screw hole was added so it could be secured into the newer type boxes.
The model was originally made in England by Lesney and the copyright date on the baseplate was 1973 which is quite surprising as the model was not released until 1975.

The glossy silver body with powder blue side panels version with either the silver or black painted baseplate are both rare variations.

The emerald green version can be found with no less than three different baseplate inscriptions. It can have either "Lesney © 1973 England", "Matchbox © 1973 England" or "Matchbox © 1973 Macau" and none of them seem particularly rare.

The Hispano Suiza was re-issued in 1995 as part of the "Grand Marques" series. This model was made in China and featured a navy blue body and side panels with a dark green chassis. The steering wheel was black with gold spokes. It was coded by Matchbox Collectibles as YY017A/D.

Interesting Facts: The Hispano Suiza is a car built by the Spanish-French company.
After the Spanish Civil War and the Second World War, the French part of the company started to build aircraft engines only and the Spanish part became what later became SEAT.
